    Can anyone id this boat?

where's the fun in that Sail SF? ...and I have no idea what type that one is.....would love to see the curved cockpit though. Hunter had a rendition of that with the .5 series in the 90's.

Sail Kote Saves the Day (again)

@BigEasy glad that worked. The splice really looked nice, so surprised it would not feed. i suspect the sheave is not running freely, and the tape would not drag across, hence the need for mclube.

Does anyone have this top plastic piece for a Jabsco manual pump?

I have a non-twist lock type available, pump head only. And entire toilet assembly, with twist-lock. Both used.

    O'Day 28 wheel and binacle.

i have a wheel, binnacle, with engine controls, compass, table quadrant, cables etc. Decided against changing because of the work involved. Start with exploring your rudder stock and tube: mine was fully encased to the deck. Changing to a wheel would require cutting that apart to make way...

    Bilge Pump - Siphon BACK!

Good points Benny. The siphon is most definitely from running the bilge pump while in rough seas. We replicated on multiple occasions. By knowing what and why, it became much less scary and manageable with the hand bilge pump. I traced the bilge pump line from the bilge all the way to the...

    Bilge Pump - Siphon BACK!

Our double-handed trip from Muskegon to Elk Rapids was eventful: First day we were sailing, and found the bilge FULL. Turned around, as we thought it may be the packing gland. After adjustment, careful scrutiny, we found that 1) the icebox pumps into the bilge, and then when activating the...

    Auto-Pilots

Great responses ALL; New boat is a C&C 30 MarkII. Wheel steering, and I think I will follow tfox's advice and try my hand at some boat shows. Thinking ahead to a suite of electronics versus piece meal that may or may not work together makes sense, and is the reason for posting, and...

    Galled stanchion removal

don't see any cracks in the gel coat, try to preserve that if you can. I put my vote in for cutting the heads off fasteners, remove the stanchion and then you will have a stub of fastener you can grab on to to back out. You could bend the tang back straight and re-install. The fastener is...

    Racing Rules

IMO the rule broken wasn't for non-removal of the anchor, but in contact. Of course you also have obligation to avoid contact, regardless of stand-on or give-way vessel. What is the consideration in extent of the damage caused by anchor versus no anchor? Is the other captain offering to...

    Auto-Pilots

Getting a new to me boat, that does not have autopilot. This seemed like as good a place for electronics. But what are your considerations for picking out an auto-pilot. Wheel-steered, cable on quadrant. Brand: I have a Garmin smartwatch. That is the extent of recent products and may be a...

O'day 28 Access to FWD Shroud Padeyes & Stanchion Bolts

@Richard19068 looks very similar to my 79 O28. Someone cut back to just shy of the vertical feature. So not cut back quite as far as yours. The "V" does provide rigidity to the edges of the liner. Oscillating tools make this an easy(er) job nowadays. See my picture above, you can see the...

O'day 28 Access to FWD Shroud Padeyes & Stanchion Bolts

I am replacing lifeline stanchions. Shrouds appear ok, so not digging that out. The lifelines have an embedded aluminum backing plate, which is VERY NICE. 4 of the 6 have been replace, only 2 to go! Thed only soft deck spot I have is coach roof, caused by leak at mast partner.

    Near Miss in Port Huron

looked to me like Cuyahoga made severe course corrections to allow the sailboat to escape. Note there is a bend the freighter had to navigate, and @JohnShannon is probably spot on with limited draft and useable channel. based on correction back to port following the miss I think Cuyahoga did...
