    Dauphine Island Race

I am a newbie having just bought a Sunfish and Puffer this past summer/fall. But I am local so I figured I would throw this out. As you'd expect, this has been all over the local news. It was reported last night that the boat you see in distress in the video did capsize but all 3...

    40 year old mast

I have found minor corrosion near the bottom of my mast. It is just starting, what do I need to do to make sure it doesn't spread? Maybe 2 feet from the bottom there is another area and there is a tiny hole from corrosion. On another boat with the same thing, I used JB weld epoxy and this...

    ? about Puffer stability?

Thanks.I asked someone about this and they confirmed that is how I should do it. Funny thing is the boat sailed great like I had it. If Wx holds (and it's ify), will go for round 2 tomorrow.

    ? about Puffer stability?

My coworker friend just stopped me and told me her family needs the Capri gone and they want me to come over and take it away. Free or maybe a few bucks later if I like it . Don't really need another boat but for this price hard to turn down unless it's junk. I know it needs work but waiting...

Safe way to clean rust-like stains?

Thank you, about to head out the door to pick some up (The works). I am going to test on a very small area just to be on the safe side. The puffer does have SS fittings, including an upgraded mast step. They all look great. What I do see that might be the source is on the sails themselves...

    ? about Puffer stability?

How does it attach? Mine has a halyard line at the top and attached to the boom at the bottom. I did find some old instructions, but they are honestly horrible for someone who just boat the boat. But regardless, boat still handled better than the fish. Easy to get out of irons, not as tippy ether.

    ? about Puffer stability?

I ended up sitting more forward because of the tiller and it works out ok but not as comfortable as I was having to tack back and forth up wind. I found out what the other boat for sale is: It's a 14ft Capri . I wanted a small boat so I could pull it with my small car and could keep it up...

Safe way to clean rust-like stains?

I just bought a boat and the sails are in good shape but main has 1 rust like stain and jib has 2 of them. From reading old posts I get the idea that anything that will work will be bad for the sails. anyone found a safe way to do this or just live with them? Thanks..

    ? about Puffer stability?

Well I found a Puffer and did her maiden today. Sailed for several hours with no issues. It is more stable to me and never wanted to turn over. Only thing I did not like is tiller is rather long which makes it hard to sit on the rear bench. I did play it safe by only hoisting the mail sail and...

    New owner help

Thanks. Your method is basically what I have been doing. Experimenting and seeing the result. That seems to be working, just need a safe area to do it in. As far as the Thursday classes go, I asked my staff guy when I was leaving to look at the new boat about that. He doesn't think it's with...

    New owner help

Thanks for the info guys. I will say I am not really the racer type, just like to joyride and explore. I wonder if there are any non-racer type classes around? I am taking a trip tomorrow to go look at that other boat and if it's like the owner says (probably as it sounds like he is an older...

    New owner help

I just need a safer place to sail until I get better at it. The river I was at Fri evening is such a place but it's hard to launch there. My aunt had one of those Hobie's and it was a nice boat, but a little bit too big for me (tiny car, tiny storage ). How did you get it turned back over...

    New owner help

Sorry I am real. You have to start somewhere and sorry if I don't know the lingo. Take a look at the pic, does this look like rough water to you? It's not, except for the very center of the bridge where the current was strong (can't see the center from this angle). I was further away than the...

    New owner help

I am getting better, though I had another incident today. My GF thinks I shouldn't sail on Saturdays :) I have been experimenting by trying different angles and that seems to be helping. Went to a resort area where the gulf meets a bay. It is an inlet. Winds were moderate going to light...

    New owner help

I have a small rope attached to the dagger board now. It may not stay put, but at least I won't have to worry about losing it. Ok that timing is good to know. We never got the boat to move at all in that time frame. We did a test run last night in calm waters with little wind. Boat did...

    New owner help

I think I lucked out as far as water logging goes. Seller said that was one thing going for it and showed me the mask full of water. It will hold water there for days. The only damage of concern was a small slit/loss of gelcoat across the keel about 1 inch long 1/8 wide. Fiberglass was ok and it...

    New owner help

That's what my plan is for this weekend..to try and stay close to shore and if so, turn it over and see if it gets stuck again. I have cut a hole in the dagger board and in the process of mounting a string so it doesn't try to float away again.
