    New Forums: Questions, Suggestions, Comments

This latest time (just in the past 5 minutes) it worked as it used to. I was given 3 pages of unread new posts, I went through and marked all but two (this thread and the new one about the mark as read issue), and when I asked for new posts again I got the two I had not marked (plus two more...

That filter has been set all along. I guess I will wade through the 15 pages of threads, and mark each one as read, and see what happens.

    New Forums: Questions, Suggestions, Comments

@Phil Herring - The android screen shot without the "mark as read" button for new posts that someone else provided above is the same as what I am seeing. Here is another potential issue. My normal usage is to open the site, hit "New Posts", go through the list of new posts, clicking a lot of...

What's the BIGGEST Selling Point When Shopping for A New/Used Boat?

This concept is not to be overlooked as a joke, especially if you are looking at boats on the hard, and/or wooden boats. I once made the mistake of buying a boat that was out of the water at the time of sale. An hour later, it was in the water and taking on water quickly, and I had to take it...

    New Forums: Questions, Suggestions, Comments

This may not matter, with the app coming, but when I use my Android phone to check new posts, the list of new posts comes up, but none of those thread titles have the "mark as read" button. This is on a Motorola G4 phone running Android 7.0

Thanks for the page number navigation (within the thread) appearing at both the top and the bottom of the page.

    New Forums: Questions, Suggestions, Comments

I saw that soon after posting, so I should have kept reading. However, I'm glad I posted because it let me observe the following, in case it matters: As soon as I "submitted my reply", it showed me my post. Which made me think it had dumped me to the end of the thread (page 8 at the time), when...

I strongly agree with Stu on this, and am posting before getting to the end of the thread.

Forum transition scheduled for Tuesday, 8/13. Here's what that means.

@kappykaplan - I like unusually marked cats. This is Cleo, an 8-month old kitten we are currently petsitting in Wales. She is very striking, and a real sweetheart, when not bringing us mice from outside.

I keep mine next to my paper tapes. I was SO grateful for the upgrade to punch cards.

@kappykaplan - I like that last one. White body, with black only on tail and upper half of head? That is very cool. What's its name?

    Retirement "What If"

There is also the notion of cleaning the tanks. Doesn't do much good to polish the fuel and run it back into tanks with crap on the bottom. My delivery partner and I attack the fuel system on a new-to-us boat before we do much else. It's time consuming, and dirty work, but fuel contamination...

    Funny Friday!!!

Once thought about, it is kind of an okay illustration of the word, but you have to work pretty hard to get there. I read it to my wife (who is by far the smartest woman I've ever met), and she had to think about it for a moment as well. (At least I think she was thinking about ambivalence...)...

    Activities between Sailing

We travel. This is the 95th consecutive day away from home, and we won't be back before day 370.

    Retirement "What If"

victor gave you a good list above. I would add 12V electrical repair/service. You can keep a good amount of "parts", supplies, and tools in a relatively small volume on your boat, and the work is not difficult. Many people just don't want to mess with it.

    Nautical tongue twister

There was that one about selling shells by the shore. Does that qualify?

Man, I hope you have (or find) a way to get paid to write. That first paragraph was magic.

Oh My Grouper, Look at that Shark!

The text said the sailfish carcass was about 2.5 meters. The shark taken was a dogfish. Just a quick and dirty - what does a one meter grouper weigh? My only experience is with very small ones in FL, and very large ones (2.5 meters, 600 pounds) in Micronesia.
