Not exactly sailing stuff, but wife and I are on Maui for a few weeks to get away from the snow and cold in the Chicago area…

Met @Tom J for a little BBQ this week, and to chat about sailing and living on Maui part of the year…it was very educational.

Wife and I were on a whale watch with Pacific Whale Foundation and I caught this video of a baby whale breaching and playing…so cool.

big snow storm hitting home tonight. Hope it is all melted and spring is “springing“ by the time we get home. Tally Ho needs bottom paint and a few other projects wrapped up before I splash her in April

Great whale watch, Greg. We enjoyed hanging out with you guys, and next time we hope to get you out to our little "plantation" for more of those excellent Maui Brewing Co. beers!

Thanks Tom.
My sis gets here tomorrow so, so will see what she wants to do and if we have time. It was great meeting you and Kathy and hearing about your “Maui experience”!

Getting an early start on Wednesday with a recent addition to my marina. A Cheoy Lee 36 in great condition. Talked with the owner recently and we are planning a few photo shoots with his boat on an end tie so I can get some better shots, then some shots under sail. Unfortunately drone images are out because most of SF Bay is a no fly zone due to the multitude of airports and air fields. Sometimes civilization really sucks.

I finally got over to look at the boat that is aground on Maui…

Very sad condition.

There is a Go Fund Me page for the rescue of the boat, but only $250 of the $20,000 needed has been collected.

I understood that the boat has been beached since December…I can’t imagine the state EPA or other regulatory body will let it sit there too much longer, But apparently the batteries and fuel have been removed to keep environmental issues to a minimum.

On a happier note, my wife and I went out for. Whale watch with Pacific Whale Foundation today and saw some amazing whale activity…

And if that wasn’t enough, we went down to watch the sunset the day before, and I spotted some splashing on the water off the beach…luckily had my trusty Canon EOS with me and captured this cool (and rare) “double breach” as 2 whales breached at the same time…

So I am fortunate enough that I can actually drive my boat to work... and this morning as I parked my stinkpot, I turned back and saw this amazing sight. This is The Citadel's sailing team's fleet
