Poker run

I've been sailing a long time but this is a first for me. There were about 6 of these floating around within a few hundred yards. They have playing cards on them. I didn't hang around long enough to see if they were anchored or drifting.

And it's a busy day at the chip truck dock.

A few weeks ago I was watching a "Poker" run up on Lake Champlain. Man, talk about loud! I don't know how many boats were involved but maybe in the 30's or 40's range. I swear, there was likely more fuel consumed on that day than I've probably consumed in my entire sailing career!

A few years ago, my neighbor trailered his power boat - Exterminator, down to Lake Powell for the Lake Powell Challenge.

Said he was doing pretty well till he blew the engine near Last Chance Bay doing what he described as 60 plus - all out - trying to beat another boat to the 4th card....

Let's organize a poker run for sailboats! Imagine how we could annoy the nearby power-boaters with our sail luffing noise as we headed into the wind on the final approach to grab a card.

I was talking to some other people yesterday who where sailing by that area and saw some groups of jet skis so we are pretty sure they were the poker run boats. I'm just glad I didn't arrive there at the same time as the jet skis, I would have thought I was in water world.
