I"ve been following your saga and making notes. The table on my C22 is in really bad shape so I have been looking for a replacement. My idea was to find a table with the right dimensions and cut it to fit. This morning I found a teak dining room table that is 47" x 66" for $75. I can cut out what I need (24 x 36) and have plenty of teak left over for other projects.

Lucky finding teak affordable, but are you going to varnish or oil, interior items usually are varnished.

The seller says the table has a poly finish on the top so I will wait until I see it to figure out what I'll do. I'm leaving in about an hour to go pick it up. Luckily it is only 1/2 an hour away and my trailer is already hooked up

caution could mean a veneer on teak or a teak veneer on other wood, or maybe just many coats of polyurethane varnish.

Poly on teak. Looks good and I cut it out using the old table as a templet. Hopefully taking it out to the boat tomorrow and I'll take pictures.

I assume the poly is oil based not water. I shifted over to water base for tiller coats for cleanup purposes. Also I am a closet greenie.

Well the closet part is still using heavy copper based bottom paint, all the namby pamby alleged biotic type paints just dont keep barnacles and slime down like good old trinidad blue by Pettit .

Might have forgotten to post this modification of entry step so can see battery, bilge without having to remove step. Piano hinge down midline. Finish pix below, step by step available on request.

Was that not a stock feature? Ours has a similar piano hinge, and I always guessed it was original. But the hinge and the step are both aging, and I know I'll have to address it someday. So "Yes, please!" to your step-by-step instructions.

Not standard that I have ever heard of., but have seen various iterations posted. My original step board was badly damaged and beat up so replaced it in process of producing the hinged version. Steps seen below:

That's a really great idea. My board is really awkward to get out. I think when they installed the fire extinguisher, they put it too low so it blocks the board.

Yep raise the extinguisher, dont want any impediment to reaching down into bilge, battery area etc.

Also if you have to remove the step board it is much easier folded and pulled out then as one piece.

By the way for cat 22 owners, you can keep your current fire extinguishers unless they are over 12 years old then you need to replace. Good idea anyway, lots of folks dont check them to see if in green, just curse when they do not work when needed.
