I couldn't sleep the other night, so...

What do you think? Can you guys do something with this? Any musicians, writers, critics?
I could try to record a little blues harp for it, but my home companions aren't keen on harp playing in the middle of the night.
Feel free to criticize, add or change things as you think best.

We can do an online music collaborative.

Don't have an album release date yet ;)

The Sailboat Owner's Blues
I own a sailboat.
And my bank account is dry.

Oh, I own a sailboat
And my bank account is dry.

There are leaks around the chainplates.
It's enough to make a sailor cry.

There are leaks around the chainplates.
It's enough to make a sailor cry.

I want to raise the sails and go,
But the season's passin' me by.

Chorus:
I got those ol' Sailboat Owner Blues!
The Sailboat Owner's Blues.
I got the Sailboat Owner's Blues.

When that wind is pickin' up.
And the main is drawin' fine.

When the wind is pickin' up.
And the main is drawin' fine.

When that rail is in the water.
And she's sailin' on her line.

When the rail is in the water.
And she's sailin' on her line.

I don't care what's in my pocket.
'Cause this beauty is all mine.

It's times like these,
I can't feel those Sailboat Owner's Blues.
Those ol' Sailboat Owner Blues.
Don't want those Sailboat Owner's Blues.

Solo Beak Out

You found yourself a sailboat.
The previous owner gave it away for free.

You found yourself a sailboat
The PO was giving it away for free.

You joined an Internet forum.
Said, hey would you please help me.

They all very helpfully said,
There ain't no more expensive sailboat,
Then the one you get for free.

You got the Sailboat Owner's Blues
You got those no wind, doldrum,
Everybody watching you dock,
Can't get the mast up,
Admiral's gettin seasick,
Sailboat bucks are how much?

Sailboat Owner's BluUUUEZ!

I like weird people... and I like you a lot.:pimp:
Thanks r, the feeling's mutual. I look forward to the possibility of coming down your way again sometime.

If I ever get my boat sailing, y'all are invited to come sail up here with me. Otherwise, hiking a mountain or two is about all I got to offer.

We won't be stuck at home forever.

I assume you are referring to my exceptional weirdness....
Of course. It was your story of your family on the Outer Banks, that endeared me to you the most. You come from a good place.

Have you written a tune to go with that yet @Will Gilmore ?
I was picturing a basic Blues tune. Something Bo Diddleyish or like George Thoroughgood's version of "Bad to the Bone".
I'll leave that to those with talent to contribute.

Well you know that most of Thoroughgoods stuff was "borrowed" from Bo or Hank Williams Sr

George just made it sound way better....

YUP! George improved on that one too....

Are you familiar with R. L. Burnside? I think I introduced him to you on another thread.... he is one of my aspirational artists right now. His genre is called Hill Country Blues. It does not follow a standard 12 bar and sometimes a song will noodle around a single chord. This first one is in drop G and he hangs around the "E" position the entire time...

This second one is in open G (spanish tuning) and again he mostly hangs on a single position the entire song..

I'm trying to learn to play this song... not that I would ever perform it because ... well it would be inappropraite for me to perform it.... but I would love to be able to play that way.

Another in open G... this one was sampled and over dubbed by a group called baby feet.... I really like what they did with it.

If I come see you, can I feed the chickens (and talk to your Dad)?

Yeah!

(and talk to your Dad)?
You're vaccinated and will wear a mask? Of course you can. I have to warn you, he's a little curmudgeonly in his old age. But he's a good host.

Sorry, should have made that clear. Yes, vaccinated and masked. I'd enjoy that. We'd have lots to talk about.
