    +1 on the suggestions to carefully check the FG thickness above the keel. If it is too thin I would lay up additional FG layers to bring that area of the hull up to the needed thickness.

    I haven’t used it yet but I just ordered a 13 lb. Mantus to use on my 23-1. I am also installing a bow roller. You might want to check the Mantus measurements. Maybe the locker in not deep enough but it might be worth checking.

    I've had crazy sailing days like that too. I've rebedded (and epoxy-isolated) almost everything on my boat and expect to do that again with whatever boat I buy next down the road. Thanks for the information.

    Thank you, that's helpful. So if you're averaging 5.75 at 2850 rpm what are you able to do against a strong headwind? I would imagine hull speed for a 30 should be 6.5 - 7 knots. What has your experience been with the chainplates, esp. the forward ones?

    Thanks very much Richard. I'm glad to hear that you like the boat so well. My standard procedure when I get a boat is to rebed the fittings and add 1/4" thick aluminum backing plates. So I expect to do that work on whatever boat I get next. I mostly just hope the decks are still OK near those...
