    Trucking a Yacht

Last estimate I saw for a similar oversized load (but not a yacht in particular) was $3.00 per mile. You could always truck to Sioux City and go down the Missouri.

Question on a 'new' Hunter 40.5

I do not recognize the model, but I believe it is a hunter and would say that is an extremely strong keel. Apparently it has been there for over a week.

Question on a 'new' Hunter 40.5

Sorry to hear but rumor confirmed! The keel is basically structurally bonded to the hull.

Question on a 'new' Hunter 40.5

Yeah... My strbd lid actually cracked in the structural "dimples." Port is leaking as well but have not removed that entire side of the cabin to inspect. Actually brings up another design "flaw." There is so much potential storage space in the stringer pans that is impossible to get to!

Question on a 'new' Hunter 40.5

Not Marlow, just hunter back then. In Florida so I consider the heater function a secondary feature of the ACs! I don't know of a single legend series that ever lost a keel. A ton of hunters are in Florida and soft groundings are just routine on the west coast. Rumor is they are epoxied on...

Question on a 'new' Hunter 40.5

Most definitely in my '95. From the emergency tiller access about 1inch thick outerwalls. As I understand it the thought was for a continuous waterproof chemical connection to the rudder itself (that is as strong as the rudder) rather than a mismatch of materials. Good idea in theory.

Question on a 'new' Hunter 40.5

Own a 1995 and have fixed a lot of issues. Some age, a lot previous owner (spit), some but not many from factory. Generally speaking it is a very good boat. From factory problems. Replaced aluminum waste holding tank with plastic. If it has not been replaced, you must! Actually pretty easy...

Why does Hunter have a bad name?

They definitely screwed the brand further through their bankruptcy. Unfortunately the attitude is not unique, Beneteau group has been fairly miserable during the current Lagoon issues.

replacement of in-deck solar and of interior ceiling lights

I removed the panel and glassed in that solar panel spot. I guess the intention is that you can leave it on a mooring and always have the battery topping up?

Batteries relocated on a Hunter 37.5

There you go. Part of a much bigger refit, wiring should be complete this weekend. The amount of wire I have pulled out of this boat...

Batteries relocated on a Hunter 37.5

Well... Not final but you can see it does infact fit. The BMS is going to be installed on the side of the battery box. Just waiting on a terminal post for the negative post for the BMS. Just off the centerline. Going against the drawer.

Trying to understand this modified 40.5 rigging!

Hello all, I do not remember what rabbit hole I was going down but found this old 40.5 listing in New South Wales, apparently it made it there across the pacific so :yeah:. Hunter 40.5 Legend Of course the listing is lacking a lot of info but I want to learn! It does not appear to have the...

Complete new bimini/dodger/enclosure H38 - Ideas, Tips, Recommendations?

Yup. That will be a issue. You can cut around it, but the panels will require a lot of snaps into the rail and deck for structure.

Complete new bimini/dodger/enclosure H38 - Ideas, Tips, Recommendations?

I have ALL the panels off right now and in my garage, just leaving the Bimini top and dodger. The remaining structural tubes are not in the way. If you are asking about having the panels on but the windows rolled up, then yes the panels are still in the way of winch handles and cleat access when...
