Kudos to Peggy Hall - Installed Raritan Fresh Head no worries about contamination now

My new to me 2002 Catalina 310 had an odor issue. I replaced all the waste hoses and installed a larger diameter tank vent and also started using Noflex digester as recommended in Peggy Hall's book that I'd purchased after an odor issue in a previous sailboat I owned (turned out to be smelly...

First time boat owner (Catalina 310) with basic questions about electrical and plumbing

Hope you don't mind, but it looks like one of the seacocks in your photos (maybe one in the hatch in the head that provides raw flush water to the toilet) appears to only have one house clamp on it. As a basic safety issue, you will probably want two hose clamps for any houses stretched to...

    Replacing Catalina 310 rubrail

I need to replace the rubrail on both the port and starboard sides as well as some damaged sections of aluminum rubrail track. Have any other 310 owners done this? If so, what did you do? Did you order material from Catalina Direct. If you had to replace any track how did you go about it?

New toilet and holding tank system

Thanks! I am also concerned a innatentive guest may forget to turn off the gate valve so I may disconnect that setup and just fill the bowl with water from the shower head to flush as another poster suggested

New toilet and holding tank system

I haven't examined the whole plumbing run but it is controlled by a gate valve that lets the water in at the top of the bowl and I also think there is a check valve in the line. So, I don't think there is any way there could be backflow of waste since there are two valves and physical...

New toilet and holding tank system

I had for issues with my new to me 2002 Catalina 310. Previous owner had rigged up fresh water fill controlled by a valve. I replaced the hoses using best available and installed a larger diameter tank vent. I also use Noflex digester. Most of these changes were recommendations straight out of...

Strange starting issue - anyone else experienced?

Thanks. I am very tempted to try the mechanical gauge but worried about some of the posts I have read online where people who have used them on their powerboats had issues with the lines running back to the gauge leaking....really interested to hear the experience of anyone who has done this...

Strange starting issue - anyone else experienced?

BTW - if anyone has already installed a mechanical oil pressure sensor on their Universal M-25 XPB and has photos, I would love to see them. Thanks!

Strange starting issue - anyone else experienced?

Update - my mechanic confirmed that I had a corroded connection. Expensive lesson but now I know how to do it myself next time. I am going to study up on the comments in this thread and learn how to rig up a mechanical pressure gauge for future peace of mind.

Strange starting issue - anyone else experienced?

Great info. If you have any tips for where to find and how to install the mechanical guage, that would be great! Thanks.

Strange starting issue - anyone else experienced?

Thanks! I will. Btw, if I wanted to install a sending unit for an oil pressure gauge wouldn't that screw into a port on the engine in the same general area as the pressure guage? If so, being such a newbie, I would have to figure out how to wire it in to the existing wiring harness of that...

Thanks so much. Apparently, I am have chosen the route to diesel knowledge of doing stupid things then learning from my errors.
