Was O'Day 28 Standing Headroom, Now Various Questions About 28 and 30

We have a Universal M12 in ours. The motor is adequate for maneuvering, etc. We spent 3+ hours motoring directly into about 12/15 knots of wind coming back from Kelly's Island on Lake Erie this summer. We were doing just a tick more than 5 knots flat out if I recollect correctly. I doubt...

    Salon Table O'Day 28

Does anyone know how the salon table, specifically the small shelf behind the table top, attaches to the bulkhead on the O'Day 28? I would like to build something a little more useful behind the table top, similar to the pantry shelf picture posted in the Boat Info section. But I can't figure...

Was O'Day 28 Standing Headroom, Now Various Questions About 28 and 30

I have an 84 and am between 6'0" and 6'1". I can stand up in the cabin but my son (6'3") has to duck. So I would guess 6'2"?

Looking for photos of V-berth port and starboard removable shelves - O-Day 28

I don’t honestly know which of the screws were added and which were original. They are all just standard stainless ‍♂️

    Shaft replacement O'Day 28

Thanks guys. I had read that on some boats, the shafts will slide past the rudder, and on others it will not. Good to know I don't need to mess with dropping the rudder on the 28.

    Shaft replacement O'Day 28

Hello. Does anyone know if the rudder needs to be pulled in order to replace the shaft/cutlass bearing on an O'Day 28? We are planning on having this done this winter, and the yard which will do the work (not where the boat is stored) says that if the shaft can't come out past the rudder, we...

    Help with cooling system

I just wanted to update this thread. We have been away from the boat for a bit because our son got married this last weekend. But it appears that the problem was in fact restricted flow in the heat exchanger. A new one is on the way. We were pretty sure that was the problem, but I wanted a...

    Help with cooling system

I am going to replace all of the hose from the sea cock to the exhaust. It looks decent, but it is not that expensive and I have already spent considerable time mucking about with this. Will also replace the valve in the vented loop in the system. Not quite ready to pull the trigger on a new...

    Help with cooling system

I blew through each hose & them looked thru them. Interesting about the HE. I ran water thru it, and ran a thin probe they each channel. To be frank I expected to see chunks of zinc in it, because the anode was completely gone when I pulled it out. But alas there was no visible debris. The...

    Help with cooling system

Ok, so I pulled the heat exchanger today. You guys were right, not that difficult. I first pulled the end cap, and there was no obvious debris. So I pulled the whole thing out. Very little water came out of the HE, but plenty of anti freeze. The pencil anode was completely eroded, but I...

    Help with cooling system

@SecondWind, I have checked all the hoses from the sea cock to the raw water pump. I have also pulled the discharge hose off the water pump and am getting good flow of water all the way to that point at least. @Don S/V ILLusion, I haven’t checked either yet. Was really hoping not to have to...
