To answer your earlier question, velcro for the cockpit seat backs is simply glued on

Problems with Stepping the mast on my 1998 Hunter 240

Very sorry to hear about your trouble, that is heartbreaking. Pardon my ignorance, what is a mast strut?

New to me Hunter 26 clean/refit

My cockpit back rests consist of smallish pieces of a foamish material. They are held in place with about 6 pieces of velcro. I wouldn't think velcro would work very well but it seems to hold up nicely in 120 degree summers.

    H26 Proposed Reef Configuration

I was not aware, that was some nice forethought by Hunter.

    H26 Proposed Reef Configuration

You are correct and I like to adjust outhaul regularly so the outhaul configuration will change for certain. As far as a bigger boat, you saw right through me, I miss my Newport 30 in Marina Del Rey. But I love living in Las Vegas and the ocean doesn't come this far - yet ;)

    H26 Proposed Reef Configuration

Actually, I'm askin' anyone who cares to answer. My outhaul goes thru the boom and hangs down about 2 feet at the mast.

    H26 Proposed Reef Configuration

I couldn't just read #88, I went through all 5 pages of posts. It's kinda nice to see that there are always differing opinions. By the way, does your outhaul go to the mast and then all the way back to the cockpit?

    H26 Proposed Reef Configuration

Thanks everyone for your inputs. Not placing hardware on the side of the boom for safety was a good point. Using a running bowline was great advice as well. I disagree with going to the mast. On most boats you walk the side deck fwd then, with the shrouds between you & the water, one step to the...

    H26 Proposed Reef Configuration

I was discussing a new reef configuration with Crazy Dave about a month ago, but then was distracted by some motor issues so I will continue here. After reviewing several designs, I am proposing a double reef line configuration for the following reasons: I believe that simple is better, two...

    H26 Rudder

Is the rudder on a 1998 H26 solid and can I drill into it? My boat is in a slip and I like to lift the rudder out of the water to keep it clean. It cannot be fully raised using the line on the top of the rudder so I would like to attach a small stainless line about halfway down to make raising...

    Mystery parts!

I never thought about that but I'll bet that's it! To protect the wood. I'll try that the next time I go out to the boat.

Anyone have pics of mast lowering Bridle attachment?

Don't underestimate the pressures that will be applied to the gin pole. My guess is that electrical conduit will collapse so make sure you're not under the mast.

    H260: Water Under Cabin Floor

Excellent report, I hope I never need this info but it will be valuable if I do.
