South Shore Harbor Marina, League City, TX

We've had boats in Waterford on and off since '98. Really nice marina but you can't beat the price at SSH. Will probably keep the boat there while we do a bunch of work on it and then when we are ready to head out some we may move back to Waterford.

Bringing a new to us boat home to South Shore. The #1 and #2 markers for the channel into the marina seem pretty far apart. Anyone with local knowledge? Go in down the middle, favor one side or the other? Sailboat with five foot draft. Thanks, Bob

    Sailboat surveyor FL west coast

Just got a text back from Pete Brown, he is retired. Rick Shelley won't return phone calls. Going to number three on the list. Getting really frustrated.

    Sailboat surveyor FL west coast

It's been a trek. Two boats listed with brokers were sold privately just before we could look at them. One, the owner decided at the last minute that he really didn't want to sell. Made an offer on one last week, owner didn't accept, reject or counter, found two more interested buyers and decided...

    Sailboat surveyor FL west coast

This may finally be it. Offer accepted, papers signed. Need a surveyor, boat is located in Palm Harbor so I would assume a surveyor from Tarpon Springs or the Tampa/St.Pete area. Thanks, Bob

Whitby 42 tanks, where and how many

One of them has four fuel tanks, not counting the one in the keel, and four water tanks. I doubt there is room for a holding tank. Just kidding, there are two heads so I'm hoping two holding tanks to keep the hoses short.

Whitby 42 tanks, where and how many

Thanks, but that just gives total capacity. I know there are three fuel tanks and was looking for their location and individual capacity. I found the Whitby owners site and along with some more digging I think I have the answer.

Whitby 42 tanks, where and how many

Looking at a couple of Whitby 42s. Trying to find out where the fuel and water tanks are located and their individual capacity. I know there is fuel tank in the keel but no idea of its capacity. I know the total capacity as built, but one boat had the tanks replaced/modified. Thanks, Bob

Launching/Returning boat to hard, buyer’s costs

    You're right, I concede.

Launching/Returning boat to hard, buyer’s costs

How about running the engine, genset, A/C? We looked at a boat locally that had a really severe list to starboard which the owner couldn't explain. Would have never noticed if the boat hadn't been in the water.

Launching/Returning boat to hard, buyer’s costs

Was I aware the boat was on the hard? No, I was not. We have looked at a lot of boats along the Gulf Coast, TX, LA, etc. They were all in the water. The first time a broker told us to meet in a boat yard to look at a boat we were shocked, had never occurred to us to ask. In the future that will...
