The structure of the trailer was very sound, hot dipped galvanized. The main components had no rust. But all the bolts, lites, brackets, brakes, wheels, bearings, tires, etc, etc., had to be replaced.
I took the whole thing apart, refinished it with cold galvanizing compound to give it a fresh look, and rebuilt it with all new parts, using either galvanized or stainless steel parts, SS disc brakes, and LED lites. Should last another 20 years. The axle under-carriage is separate, and just attaches to the A-frame with eight U-bolts. This makes it easy to adjust tongue weight.
