I have just purchased a Catalina 27 had it hauled and am in the process of painting the bottom would like to know if the prop shaft is the only location for an anode? does the keel require one or some other places such as the strut that supports the shaft thanks new to sail boats bill

The prop is the easiest place to locate a

zinc anode. Some thru hulls that are grounded due to a refrig connection will also have zinc's. i.e. Isotherm.

Add one to the prop shaft strut

If there isn't one on the prop strut be sure to add a button on mushroom zink to the strut. There has been a ton on stories about struts with out a zink. Clean all the paint off the strut where the zink will contact, and drill the hole. It's very simple.
