Where the heck do I find the protective zink on my Catalina 30. Can't see it anywhere under the waterline.

Wouldn't it be on the shaft ?

And maybe another one on your fresh water heat exchanger if you have one

Ahoy Jim;There should be a zinc on the prop shaft. If none is there, it has done it's job. It could mean you got bigger problems. Like if you put a zinc on a month ago and now it's gone, you have a stray current problem big time. More on this at a latter time.Fair WindsCap'n Dave

I have a universal diesel. Besides the zinc on the prop shaft I have one in the coolant system on the engine. It is accessable through the real engine access door. It is screwed in. Look for a 7/16 bolt(brass?). When removed the attached zinc is about 1.5 inches long.

Zincs on Catalina 30

We have a 1988 Catalina 30 with a Universal M25-XP diesel. We have a zinc on the prop shaft, larger circular ones bolted to either side of the strut, and a pencil zinc in the heat exchanger. That makes three places to look for zincs. Your mileage may vary.Gary KunkelChannel Islands Hbr. CA
