The zinc anode for the heat exchanger of my Universal M-18 engiine is very difficult to remove. As a result, I have only checked it a few times since purchasing my boat. Has anyone else had this problem and how have you solved it? The boat is located in fresh water if that is of any importance.

It shouldn't be difficult. You have to crouch in under to port cockpit hatch and reach under the heat exchanger with a small wrench. To install a new ine cut off a 1/4 inch to allow it to fit. But maybe you're right. Engine access on a Cat 27 means you have to sqush yourself in tight places. You can't be claustraphobic.
