Yet another Bottom Paint issue

as we all read in the previously posted 25.5 Bottom Job with all the cool pics, which was "a job well done", can I do this project without using the VC-tar and apply the VC-17 right after sanding and doing the needed repairs? Do I need to prime it first so the vc-17 sticks better? I'm new to this and I am planning on doing the paint myself. Your help/pointers are very much appreciated.Thanks

If you read the VC17 application instructions, they never address the need for primer. I inquired with my local dealer when I was fixing some blisters and he advised to just paint right over the repair work and that no primer is necessary for vc17...
