I've just bought a '77 Catalina, 22'. The thing reeks of sewage, has a new manual head (never used) and an empty holding tank. What the ???????????Help me please, I've just sold the Siren (with the Porta-Pottie) and the kids want to kill me ! Should I trade the bigger guy back for my Siren ??? !!!!Thanks to all who can help, seriously, the smell is quite offensive and permeates the whole cabin.Yvan

Suggestion: Get rid of the head and the holding

tank, scrub the interior of the boat with Lysol disinfectant, put a Porta-potty back in. Problem solved. Next?!

After that.....

After you've either replaced or scrubbed everything, replace your hoses with the new non-permeating materials. Then use Odorlos in your head after every pump out - nothing else. A friend on my dock gave me a box of individual packets to try, and now almost everybody on the dock uses the stuff. No perfumes, no mess, no smells!
