Because we couldnt put the throttle control into the ident with out stalling the engine out we determined that there was something amiss with the fuel injector pump. Our suspicions were found to be correct when we found that the fuel control spindle was frozen in position and wouldn't turn when the governer called for a change. The injector pump was dismanteled and thoroughly cleaned and oiled and reassembled. We followed the adustment procedure carefully but the instructions in the manual were ambiguous, to say the least. The engine started in about a revolution and a half and ran like a charm. Putting it into the ident was no longer a problem, the governor took control and it settled down quickly to an idle. We thought we had it made until we went out and tried it under a load. We no longer could get up to 3000 rpm without showing signs of overloading, black smoke, etc, at anything over 2400. Went back over the adjustment procedure several times to no avail. Before we took things apart she would do 3000 with no problem, the problem as previously stated was getting it to idle. Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
