Has anyone used the 8 HP Yamaha 4 stroke with electrical start? How did you route the wire to the battery for the starter and the charger? Did the weight affect the performance (102lbs)? Thanks Rick

I have the 2 stroke model . . .

The best way to feed the electrical and fuel lines to your motor is to make a modification to the stern/transom area. you could either put a deck pipe on the top of the coping area around the cockpit (and near the engine. Or, you could make a hole in the transom (high enough above the water line) to route your cables/hoses. 102 lbs on the back end will make your boat 'sit' too much in the stern. The 2-stroke model is about 75-80 lbs, and I feel it is a bit heavy. It is only a factor for racing performance. You could move the battery forward to the v-berth as a means of leveling the boat. Regards, Ted
