day one of the winter cruise with John (@jssailem ) Stu (@Stu Jackson ) and myself. John and I left Everett at8am today - headed north and wend they the ditch and La Conner to Anacortes. The 100min in the ditch really slowed or average speed some what. With a high of 8.9 and average >7 we cooked motor sailed up to the ditch then motored the rest of the way. It’s now blowing ~30.

John chose Mexican for lunch/dinner so we can see which cabin alarms the flammable sensors.

Quick pic of John enjoying verde enchilada

Got to work to pay for dinner. Any one no a Tax Account who will let me write of Les’s dinner.

We had great weather. No rain. Cold. It’s winter. Like Les’s welcome to port. Shot of scotch when you get the boat tied up, power plugged in and sail covered.

That looks fun. Hope you packed your neoprene long johns:twisted: Stay hot with good Mexican food :stir:. Great strategy.

The sad part about Winter cruising is the mermaids have all gone to Bermuda, so they won't be chasing after you.

Great pics. Thanks John/Les. It is cold but tolerable, unlike last week when it was below 20. I'll be looking for more updates an please keep the pics rolling in. Thanks again. Sail safe.

8PM boat buttoned up. Heaters are on. Thank goodness for Pelonis electric oil heaters. The wind is howling outside singing in the wires. 20Plus wind with light rain. Hope the temps stay above freezing otherwise we might be breaking off the ice from the rigging.
Trip planned tomorrow from Anacortes to Roche Harbor. It is a 27nm trip. Taking us through Thatcher and Wasp passages. Some of the prettiest water up here. With the wind conditions predicted at 10-15 at 120degrees on the boat. We could be having a fun reach at least part of the way.
Time to snuggle into the sleeping bag (temp 0degree winter bag) and read a book.

You mean to say your not on the hook like a true n'wester, but in some ding dong marina connected to shore power?

Wasp Pass is really neat. Hopefully, a nice southerly will carry you across to Roche on a reach.

Les,
Kings Gambit really has your back. He didn't even suggest a brand of real electric socks. It's nice that someone cares. Or, is he hoping to inherit your boat and doesn't want tushy shaped scorch marks on the cockpit cushions?

My sons and I have backpacked in all kinds of weather for extended periods. Wool remains a good choice in cold weather wear, but it has some drawbacks. If I want technical wear for selected weather conditions my preference is 100% polyester. Light weight, does not absorb moisture, wicks moisture away from the body and great for layering. Just my humble opinion. https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/socks.html

Electricity is not something to play footsie with.

Tell us more about your voyage.

Les, is that your pastrami? (STILL looking for that 'YUM' emoji). Is there an airfield nearby? I'm checking on flights right now. BRT. Maybe I should swing by and grab Crazy Dave and the Frog before I leave this coast. On the other hand, I don't know how much Crazy Dave eats but I know how much the frogs in our pond eat and I would like a decent share.

Will. Les is busy drinking a girly beer. 43722B02-8B91-4A38-ADFE-43C66CC11A0E.jpeg
Just fly in to Seattle and catch the float plane to the San Juan’s.
There is still pastrami available. But after the lunch not much left. And going soon.

I am surprised that Les didn’t include my photo talent in the credits. Oh well having fun. It is almost a religious experience.
