What material for electrical back panel?

I use ABS sheets that I get from the scrap barrel at Tap Plastics. There are all kinds of stuff in the scrap bin and they sell it by the pound. Practically free. I also use it for the control panel faces, framed in mahogany.
But - I’ve noticed that a lot of professional electricians use metallic back planes. Especially inside non-metallic enclosures. I assume that this is for safety grounding.
Possibly related: my nav-com sub-panel is currently producing vexing RF interference on the SSB radio (NMEA 0183 bus noises) that I have so-far failed to eliminate. There are a couple of other things to try first, but one thing I might try is putting the whole thing in a metallic enclosure.

Ward - you can also raid the better half Tupperware drawer for a cover , it works great and reduces leftovers
LOL, she's already wondering why her Tupperware keeps disappearing. They make great parts bins for the tool bags.
