Catalina 30 MKIII Varuna Boat Club
Hi all,
Just starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel with my "new" '97 Cat30 MKIII. I do have one problem I can't seem to solve. The guide rails on the cabin top are not wood. They are some kind of white acrylic and the nearest ends are broken to the first screw. Does anyone have any idea where I might get replacements? I really don't want to go back to what I had on my '91, which were teak. Thanks for ANY ideas. Incidentally, Catalina and Catalina Direct are no help.
Happy Sailing,
Ralph

You could buy a couple of pieces of aluminum. It cuts, drills and shapes with regular woodworking tools, just go slower and use a little light oil. You might even be able to find plastic extrusion blanks to make them out of, like synthetic decking material found at your local building supply store.

Ralph, several forum members have made runners out of "plastic" trim boards found in stores like Lowes and Home Depot. Maybe check with www.plasteak.com? Maybe Starboard?
I don't blame you for not wanting to go back to teak.
