Yep! That is how I do it. I drove my H26 from central VA to southern AL like that. ... Total of 621 miles with a Honda 9.9 on the back.Stingy has pictures...
That's an extra ~260 pounds in the bow. If your tow rig can handle the additional load, the extra tongue weight might even help your handling (balancing out the weight of the outboard on the transom). It seems like the safest plan is to measure your total trailer weight and tongue weight, and load the boat so as to get 10-15% of the total on the tongue (possibly by filling the water tank, moving a cooler or other gear around, shifting where you keep your spare trailer tire, etc.). The Weigh Safe hitch mounts have a built-in scale, which is really slick. They're really well made, but you pay for that...I also put a 33 gallon water tank in bow any reason why I can’t tow with water tank full
Is your water tank in the bow alsoAs with others above, I’ve always traveled with motor mounted, water tank full. Boat strapped down to trailer. Lightly strap motor leg to trailer so it doesn’t pivot/bounce independently.
Successfully towed in this manner from west coast to winnipeg, winnipeg to kingston/ottawa return as well as numerous shorter trips, 1-200 miles.
