Don't forget the Quadrant Box Drain
A tiller to Wheel conversion that has a quadrant box cover above the Quarter berth will accumulate rainwater from the cockpit. On later boats this box has a thru hull drain above the water line on the transom. If that drain becomes plugged, it is a mysterious source of water to the bilge.

I think all the links & comments on these threads best describe how it is much easier just to pay a few bucks more & buy a C 30 that already has factory wheel steering installed. There are so many intricate requirements & materials needed. It's obvious that the early tiller models with aft travellers, & no upgrades are cheap for a reason. Cause its a major pain & hi $$ investment to upgrade a worn boat. Only for the true DIY type, like Ol' School Neil. I know boats are a labor of love, but it can get a bit overwhelming on your patience & wallet when starting from scratch.
