the differents betwen Hunter 260 before and after 2002

Hi ,
I understand that the Hunter 26 was build from 1994-1998, then change to the model 260 and I know the difference between 26 and 260. I know the firts 260 was built in 1998 and I read about the 260 had change in the 2002.
Can someone explain in detail, what were the changes in the 260
or tell me where I can find that information.

I'm trying to determine whether it would be convenient to pay more for a 2002 or even a more recent.

Since I introduced both boats and the biggest dealer for them, I can reasonably answer that. The Hunter 260 was first introduced by me at the Annapolis Sailboat Show, October 1997 for the model year 1998. Previous to that, it was the 26. The hull, cabin, sail plan did not change. The deck did change to accommodate a different style forward hatch and cockpit plan to mostly accommodate the wheel steering and a different dive platform in addition for the upgraded forward hatch. There were other changes but the most noted have been mentioned. The construction and manufacture of the 260 remained the same until the last 260 left the factory behind my truck. Hey Dave...

Back in '97 I know you had 240 #1 and we had #8, but I also thought that the several water ballast 26's we sold were designated "260's". Could be just bad gray cells...:doh:

Nope, the 26 and 260 were different in the decking and the 260 offered the choice of wheel or tiller from fHunter. I did install wheel steering on the 26 with success but had to rig up parts and do some fiberglassing to make it work. Others tried and stopped. One reason for the 260 coming on board.

when looking for a Hunter 26 there seems to be a lot for sale for the year 97' - any reason for that?Im in the market for a 26 wb swing keel..

Greg; There were several reasons for changing the 26 to the 260 but the basic configuration of hull and deck to include interior were the same except for the forward hatch, added hardware, dive platform in the back, and mostly the addition of wheel steering. If you want a tiller, you might want to look at the 26.
