This is for my C-30 and there is a safty set up so you will need to ignore that stuff. Tablernacling the Mast 1)Attach “block and tackle” from padeye on floor to lower boom bail and secure line. Saftey stuff> 2)Attach cable bridle with large carabiner to lower boom bail and the two smaller ends to the shackles located on the main upper shrouds about 18 in off the deck. 3)Attach the track cars with cables onto each track using hole #3 from the stern for the car, and attach carabiner to the same shackle on the upper shrouds that the bridle went to. It is important the car is behind the cable, and the cable does not get hung up on the car. end saftey stuff< 4)Disconnect backstay fast pin and attach to upper boom bail along with the main halyard and boom-lift which should already be there. 5)Be sure that spinnaker halyard is securely fastened to the bow to prevent mast from going backwards, then disconnect roller furler fast pin and push roller furler outside life lines and secure furler amidships using bungee cord. 6)Disconnect 2 rear lower shrouds at shackle on base of shroud and secure them out of the way (on lazy jacks on the boom). 7)Loosen the main sheet and put approximately 4 ft. of slack in it so that the boom can rise as the mast goes forward. The main sheet will then act as your backup system in case the main block and tackle fails. 8)Grab the block and tackle line and wrap on a primary winch…and be prepared to ease the line out as the mast goes down. 9)Have someone either lift the boom or pull the 2 front lower shrouds together and forward to begin the mast lowering…once it begins, gravity takes over and assistance is not needed. 10)Slowly pay out the line on the winch as the mast drops…and stop when you get to the tape mark on the line. That point should allow you to clear a 40ft. bridge with room to spare. Remember you mainsheet is your emergency backup so have someone pay out that line at the same time but do not put any load on it as it may not hold (it’s never been tested), use the block and tackle to handle all loads. 11)Once under the bridge, winch the mast back up to its upright position and secure the line on a cleat. 12)Begin reconnecting everything beginning with the backstay and then roller furler to secure the forward/backward movement of the mast. 13)Re-attach the lower shrouds more saftey stuff 14)Only after everything is reconnected can you remove the bridle, sliding cars with cables, and cockpit block and tackle.
