The bolts on the forward starboard stanchioned snapped in a Nor'Easter this winter and I can't find a good way to get access to the bolts via the forward cabin. Any 39 owners out there dealt with this before? thanks -trevor

The bolts are probably screwed into embedded metal plates in the Fiberglas deck. The plates are drilled and tapped when the stanchions are installed. You will need to drill through the broken bolt and retap the hole for a larger bolt. You might be able to confirm this if you can find a copy of the Hunter SOP for stanchions for either the H39 or a similar model. There have been links in other Fornum posts to the on-line library of SOPs made available by Hunter.

On my 2005 model H38 the stanchions are attached with 2 nuts on the inside. No thread cut into a glassed in aluminium plate. The difficult part is not the nuts, it is to get acces to them without tearing down the boat. Most often you will have to cut an acces hole in whatever is in the way.
