Saw the folks from Spliseal at the miami boat show yesterday
Their process for butt connecting wires seems impressive
Has anyone tried their stuff

Just watched the video on their website. I can see you having the crimp lay off to one side of the "die" and wind up with the connector exposed in a spot. What is the remelting temp of the insulation? Just a few thoughts.

Interesting idea, pretty sure I won't be spending money on it. Too many parts and pieces to make the splice and AC electricity is required. The crimps are dimple crimps, not a compression crimp that a decent quality crimping tool yields. Marine Wire Termination – Marine How To

Got it thanks
Was just hoping to use the die and sealant over my own crimps

I would trust it more if it will fit over an insulated crimp and seal out air and moisture.

Saw it too at the show but will stay away for a number of reasons: 1) Cost of cheapest kit was around $100. How long would it be before you needed to reorder the melting sticks? 2) Did not like the size of the joint made. Looked about 1/4'' O.D. 3) Even though was told about perfect insulation from air and water I'm left with doubts ! 4) Didn't think it would provide as solid a connection as a good crimped one.
