Our C310 came from the factory with the struts to the stern rail. Our neighbors on a C320 liked them so much, they put them on their bimini.

Good question because others claim that it eliminated need for the straps. I feel they might help in heavier winds but to be honest I've never tried without them. So I personally would continue to use them as they are not much of a problem anyway.

One more thing. I found it difficult to fine someone in the area would construct the arches. Also, they would probably have to make two half arches that would be welded in the center. What I did was to order half arches for Sailrite and they have a system to join two arches in the middle via a spline inserted in each arch and riveted into place. There will be some left over stainless tubing that you could use for the diagonal pieces and perhaps other pieces needed.
