On our new to us 2007 Hunter 27, I'm looking to install a second battery. The existing battery is in a locker to starboard, right near the black water holding tank. There doesn't seem to be much more room there, so I'm looking at alternate locations not far away.
Spatially, the best spot would be in the aft lazarette. I would need to build a level shelf and run wires to the 1/2/B switch (everything is pre-wired regarding the switch and the connection to the charger), but that's not my concern. My diesel fuel tank is located in the same compartment. I know if it was gasoline, it would be an extraordinarily bad idea to locate a battery in close proximity. Is it OK to be 30 inches away from my diesel fuel tank?
