Anyone know if the plate that is welded to the rudder post is stainless or mild steel on the Mark 2 boats. On the Mark 1's I have seen mild steel tabs but wonder if Catalia went to all stainless in later years.

You might ask Foss Foam who builds a lot of rudders.
My opinion is just a guess but I would say not stainless. It doesn't make a lot of sense to put stainless in a low oxygen environment. And stainless welding is more difficult.
