Rigging Question

Question for those who have undertaken their own standing rigging:

Got some 1x19 1/8” stainless wire, ferrules and thimbles— great purchase from rigging supply, but I’m a bit surprised by the thimbles. I looked up specs from various suppliers and my dimension seems to ring true. Just feels like this will be a pretty tight turn on a fairly stiff cable and subject to splaying. Anyone care to share your experience? ID and OD dimensions below:

I felt the same way, but I didn’t have any issues. The thimbles were labeled for the appropriate size wire and the wire remained tight all the way around. I put both ferrules on, made a large loop and then slipped the end back through the ferrules (remember, two ferrules per thimble). Pull the long end to tighten the loop and then put the thimble inside the loop just before you pull out the last bit of slack, then swage with the thimble snug against the base of the first ferrule.

Thanks for the insight— I grabbed a few extra everything so I could square up my technique.

Nicopress suggests the second ferrule serves no mechanical purpose, but I’ve certainly seen valid arguments both for and against. Also found a decent score on a bench top press with the right crimp head— bloody things are expensive.
