Restarting a 9hp Yanmar diesel on a Hunter 27 after draining the fuel

Had just a terrible problem with sediment in our fuel clogging up our fuel line filters, so we're in the middle of getting all that crud out of the tank now and getting new filters in place.

Anybody know how we should go about getting our diesel engine started again after completely draining and refilling the tank and fuel lines?

Assuming you also bleed all the air out of the system, it should start more or less normally.

Not sure which boat whether it is the 9 hp or the other older model with less horse power, there are two bleed out positions on that motor. Once fuel comes out, close off and go to the next till the second bleed, fuel comes out. Have you checked the fuel separator too. I am rusty here as a retired dealer for some time sir.
