I recently purchased a 1988 Hunter 26.5 and all of the lines were old and dirt caked. I restrung the halyards but now have a topping lift that seems to be on its last legs. I find where the end of the topping lift is in the boom but do not know if it simply connects to the top of the mast or if it too can be restrung as I do not want to climb to the top of the mast if it isn't needed. Any suggestions?

Tug on it and see if a line moves at the base of the mast. It has to be adjustable on one end or the other.
