Refurbishing the Hyde StreamStay roller furler

Hunter 31 Deale
We have a 1984 Hunter 31, the Hyde Streamstay roller furler is in need of repair. I have the short 4 page manual for it and have removed the lower unit from the boat. I used the jib halyard and the main halyard secured to the bow to keep the mast stabilized.
I have the lower terminal swivel unit disassembled to the point that I have the locking nut (part #6) removed but there is no indications on how to remove the bearings. Do I removed them from the bottom or from top of the swivel barrel? Either way it looks like lots of penetrating oil and patience. Can I gently pound the shaft of the deck eye #1 out with a mallet and wooden block?

I have done the Google searching and found a closed forum thread on this topic but the question I pose was not addressed. https://forums.sailboatowners.com/index.php?threads/rebuilding-the-hyde-streamstay.110448/

The part numbers in question can be seen at the diagram on the right-rite.com website: http://www.rigrite.com/furling/hyde/hyde.php

Any thoughts?
