just bite the bullet and buy another Honda 2000 ($800 on sale)
The answer lies in the tag on you unit. Same for Landlubber AC's too.

Here is my 16k unit tag.
I need...
14.2 + 3.30 Amp = 17.5 AMPS to Run my 16K unit in Heating mode. Not counting the Amps for the water pump.

And the compressor will LOCK up at 67 Amps. So you/I need roughly that to start the compressor, thus the Temporary starting device needed.

Check YOUR tag.

Thanks Jim,
Will check it out. Should be a tag on the compressor and one on the 12k btu air handler and one on the 4K btu air handler. My gut feeling is that by the time you add all of the above components and the water pump, the demands are going to exceed the capability of the Honda 2000 even with the soft starter. That’s why I am leaning toward just adding a second Honda to the existing Honda companion that I now have, instead of plunking down $500 on a soft starter.

I love academic exercises. They are always interesting albeit often useless. I'll remember to explain it to my soft start A/C unit every time it works on a Honda 2000.

There are too many variables beyond the spec sheet to make blanket generalities about whether it will/will not work in every instance.

Hmmm? Hunter designed my boat with Academics. Now if you explain stuff to your mechanical devices, that is albeit useless.:cowbell:
