    does the boat sail fine with the pop top up?

    No it doesn't Al. You can't connect the boom vang when the top is up. Unless you sail headsail only.

    We sail ours with the top up frequently. A boom vang is not always required for pleasure sailing, and I rarely install it. However I would not sail with the top up if it is windy and/or rough. That little bolt and wingnut are the only things holding that thing up.

    Well that's interesting. I guess if you're sheeted in fairly tight you could do that. I'm going to have to try it.
