BTW, SoCal PHRF dropped the Corinthian rating after a lot of complaints of gaming the system and some race committees not allowing them to run in PHRF classes. Individual ratings will still take into consideration some of the factors, but the allowances are much less generous. A work in progress.

Overall, I applaud any effort to get more people enjoying racing.

But it can go too far. Creating classes that credit (and/or over-credit) 'cruising' or 'non-serious' aspects of boats or sailors is a disservice to the sport. The world has awarded enough participation trophies. First place in Corinthian non-spin white sail furler class? Please.
