Perko Fuel Filter

The first filter downstream of the diesel fuel tank in our '82 Hunter 36c is a brass-bodied Perko 299 1 (?, hard to read the numbers on the filter body) filter. I believe it is the original filter. Downstream of the Perko is a Racor, and then the engine mounted filter. Does anyone have a source to obtain new Perko cartridges?

I had the same Perko many years ago and my small Yanmar filter right on the engine. When I added a Racor, I felt it was not necessary to continue using the Perko, so I eliminated it. Besides, it was hard to get to and I had located my Racor in a much easier location. Just a thought.

Yeah, I just use a racor + the engine filter, my '80 36 didn't come to with me anything else

I don't know where to get replacement filters for the old Perco filter and I'm not sure they are even made anymore. Additionally, the pet-cock on the bottom of mine was leaking. I replaced it with a Racor spin-on 120 series primary fuel filter with metal bowl and a 30 micron filter element. Also moved it forward of the engine for easier access. The secondary filter is the Yanmar 10-15 micron filter on the engine.

I replaced my filter too but have a number of spare cartridges - not sure how many.

I replaced mine also with a Racor & spin-on cartridges, didn't seem like a huge expense to upgrade and have some piece of mind over the old set up.

Thanks to all responding to my Perko filter question. I contacted Perko and received a quick response that the filter cartridge part number is 0324001ELM. Was able to buy a few for about $15 ea.
