Outhaul upgrade

The outhaul on my MacGregor 25 is a line attached to the end of the boom and a cleat. I would like a simple, effective upgrade. I'm kind of visual, explanations with pictures would be helpful. Thanks.

The set up looks cluttered with the pull handle tucked out of the way, but what I have done:
Line tied to a eye bolt at the end of the boom
Run through a block at the clew
Back to a check block on the side of the boom
Through a jam cleat with a wood handle at the end of the line

Did almost the same on my old Mac, except I led the line further forward on the boom so I could tension it while hove to.
