This post is for an attempt to gain info on what size of outboard motor should be used on a Catalina 25 sailed at higher altitudes. I've done a little research and while Catalina Direct says the 10 hp. Is kinda the standard because of Max hull speed. I know this true however it doesn't compensate for high altitude power loss especially carbureted units which most are. Has anyone experienced using a 15 hp. at high altitude lakes such a lake Dillion located in the summit area of Colorado? It would be great to hear your thoughts.
