oil consumption

Hi
I have a Sense 50 with Yanmar 4JH4-TE engine , 1350 hours. what is the normal oil consumption under moderate use (2000-2200 RPM)

usually a turbo engine will eat a little more oil than a standard engine because of turbo seal weepage.. but what that number is.. Yanmar may have some "normal" data.

On a relatively young engine like yours there should be no oil consumption, but because you have a turbocharger I suspect that finicky piece of kit is the culprit.

I agree with the previous answers that you should have very slight, if any, oil consumption in a 100hr oil service... but due to the way an engine can be mounted in the boat (at an angle) the dipstick may not be calibrated right to take the angle into account, and so it may be getting over filled, and then IT WILL consume the oil until is gets down to the level that it needs to run at.. make sure you arent over filling (or under filling) the motor, regardless of what the dipstick says...
