Nice to to kick off the racing/regatta season

While racing in TX over the winter has been nice as always, the Bequia Easter Regatta really kicked off our 2019 season. They called boats from near and far.

After some talking and swapping racing stories, I got a ride on the 120 year old, 80 foot Galatia, and trimmed main. BIG job on on old boat.

Downwind fun, fast (12 knots), and time for a water or a smoke.

2nd place overall! Now on to the party! Sun starting to go down. Strike the pose.

Chatting with the skipper about main trim on a boat with a 1000 sqr/ft main that you lock down. Funny.

The J/105 ‘DogSmile’ was a fun/fast program that I totally related with, so we bonded at the party.

Jodi too. While she did not race, she can totally talk smack with the 105 crew. This guy feared her.

Awards! I’d love to do this in my own boat. Or a charter. Anyone in??

I wonder which one will take out the skipper first: cancer or the tiller stabbing his lumbar.

I think that the Easter Regatta would be a blast. Like many others, I count Bequia as one of my favorites.

I laughed when I saw that in the picture as well. I relate to the driving... on down-winds I often drive with the tiller between my legs. Too high on this boat, so the skipper takes it in the back!

Snow long gone here..... the trip actually pushed BlueJ's launch back to THIS weekend!

I could be interested, depending on your required racing credentials, I just do JAM beer can races during the summer.
