So what about those all over the boat! I can't imagine sleeping on the boat it had tons crawling all over it even out on the water. They showed up as soon as it got dark.

I indirectly learned about Listerine from an old, bayou-dwelling lady in Louisiana. She sprayed Listerine on and around her screen doors to keep bugs from getting into her house. I tried that trick at my house and it worked. And while I was doing that one evening, I decided to try it on my skin. Point is: Put Listerine in a spray bottle and spritz your boat.

Weather and schedule have sucked since July but my daughter and I made it to the boat yesterday. Although it was cloudy it all blew over with no severe weather and gusts added some fun times. If the temps would drop to mid 70s it would be perfect. My girl spent a bunch of time scurbing the teak and the results were great!

@Ward H mid 80s was better then 90s the past month. We spent about an hour and half scrubbing the outside and teak, the good news is the stronger wind helped knock and blow off the spiders from the rigging. Boat looks excellent for a 1976 and all though not fast always makes me smile when we have the wind.

Love the O'Day for what it is but really just don't have the time for projects anymore. I got hit hard a couple of weeks ago when I found out a long time co-worker and friend from my Maine / Rhode Island days died at 53. I was shocked and the worst part is she was always activity and loved the outdoors. She is the reason I got in the company I've been at for 13+ years now which has given a lot for my family. These events make you think and reflect, might be crazy and might not happen but I could very well decide to go for a new sailboat that we can have at the lake and then in 5-10 years sail away once we know the kids are good.

I fully understand this. While one of the reasons we got into sailing 6 years ago was planning for a retirement hobby, after having a mini stroke in 2016 I planned for retirement by the end of 2017. Loved my job and could have kept working but my wife was retired and I didn't want to waste good health working when we could be enjoying retirement. Moving up to the C30 opened up new waters for us to sail in.

Got out again, 2 weekends in a row. Not much wind so we did a head sail change to the drifter while underway. Not real fast but fun to practice.

Got up early, Abby and took Easy out fora couple of hours then swung back and picked up Mom and my son. Fun day, wind was 10-15, so had to adjust as shifts happen.

Our first race, I estimated about 10 miles. It started out with no wind for several hours, then picked up and managed to cover a bit faster.

John, it's good to see you getting plenty of use out of your O'day. Also glad to hear you and the crew were able to stick to it in the light air. Very nice.

We got second place in the non spinnaker class! Pretty cool as we were just happy to finish.

Just a nice sail today, finally temps in the 70s and enough wind for a couple of hours around the lake.

First fall sail today. October was too busy so it been since the end of September for sailing.

Today started with freeze warnings but the forecast said mid 40s and wind 10-15 with gusta 15-18. A fair more sporty for me but I had my experienced coworker volunteer to sail today. I set the main reef before leaving which was a good call. We had a ton of fun and enjoyed the speed.

My log for this year is 15 day sails since March, 2 were class lessons, 2 were with coworkers and the other 11 were always with my daughter. Was a good year and probably will squeeze a couple more in before it gets way too cold.

Every sail is a memory, but that trip was fun to be with her all day. She loves bragging about it and loves the trophy that is proudly displayed in her room!
