I am looking to replace the mainsail on my C-27 Tall rig. A previous owner replaced the main and jib and the mainsail is undersized. (The foot is 9' 2" and the luff is 27' 2".) I've noticed in the last year of sailing her that in light winds she has bad lee helm and I'm thinking that an correctly sized main might help.

What I'm wondering is what do you guys recommend. I'm especially curious about batons. I've seen online everything from an OEM replacement, Top 2 batons full with partial for the bottom and four full batons. Other then that I plan to go back to a full sized main for the tall rig.

Thanks.

I just had a main built for Fraulein II. Stayed with the four full battens. IMO, gives better shape and reduces luffing resulting in longer life. Downside is that it may be a bit more difficult to furl but I haven't had any issues with that. You may have opened up a can o' worms here such as best anchor, best nav equipment, best batteries, etc. Let the fun begin. :poke:
