After a recent sail, we had water accumulating on the ledge just above the dinette. Didn't hurt the fiberglass ledge, but it wasn't doing the teak plywood panel any good. The likely culprit for a leak seemed to be the portlight just above the dinette, in the topsides. I took off the teak panel that surrounds it and inspected for possible leak. Looked good.

Took another sail and had the same leak. Grrrrrr. Finally found the source of the leak when I noticed there was also puddling on the countertop in the head. We'd been out in the tall waves, and when Stray Cat came off the crest of a wave and slammed into the trough, water shot out of the drain in the head's sink. Bear in mind, these were some steep, close together waves.

The water puddled on the countertop, seeped past the bulkhead separaiting the head from the main saloon, and collected on the ledge above the dinette.

Closing the seacock for the sink's drain is the simple cure for the problem. We just use the sink in the galley unless we're staying overnight on the boat, in which case we open the seacock.
