Mast base

Hi folks,
I have purchased a 1979 O'day 22!
On closer inspection, I am having concerns about the mast tabernacle set up. It seems some parts are missing.
It looks as if the bottom of the mast should fit directly into the flat metal mast tabernacle. Then be secured by two pins.
I have not ever had a sailboat with this connection. Question: does this sound like the correct or original connection? I believe this mast is not the original, as far as I know. Does anyone have pictures of a typical O'day 22 mast set-up?

Sounds correct, I had a 1980 O22 that secured with 2 pins. I attached a pic of the mast base. It's a new one so it's not attached to the mast.
