My H26 shroud turnbuckle pins where they connect to the u bolt on the hull rail currently has
cotter pins in them. They are extremely difficult to remove being between the turnbuckle and the cabin top sides. Is there any reason I shouldn't replace these cotter pins with cotter rings. They
would be much easier to put in and out ?

Hefty twist ties. Haha, ok, not. I hate those cotter pins too, and heard somewhere about rings working out, so I use 0.020" stainless safety wire. It'll hold a B52 together. I double it up first, slip it through, then twist it around the turnbuckles and trim it real neat. Then I cover the whole mess with 3/4" PVC tubes so I don't scratch the ship. It looks cool, and I can jam little flags or pin wheels in the tubes.
